About Coconut Cream Cola
Coconut cream cola is a tropical spin on the American 'dirty soda' trend that grew out of Utah's soda shops, where regular fizzy drinks get dressed up with syrups and cream. This one pairs cola with coconut syrup and a float of coconut cream, with an optional squeeze of lime to keep it from turning cloying. The whole idea is to take an everyday soda and give it a richer, more indulgent personality without much effort at all.
The drink tastes like a beach holiday in a glass — the toasted-sweet coconut playing against cola's caramel-cola fizz, the coconut cream adding a silky body, and a hint of lime brightening the finish. Served tall over plenty of ice with a straw, it is cold, creamy and just a little exotic. It comes together in about four minutes, making it an easy warm-weather refresher or a no-alcohol treat, and shaking the coconut cream well before floating it is the small step that gives that satisfying creamy cascade on top.
