Ingredients

Servings 2
  • 200 g Pasta
  • 300 g Chicken thighs
  • 4 cloves Garlic
  • 2 tbsp Light soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Honey
  • 1 tbsp Neutral oil
  • 20 g Butter
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Black pepper
  • ½ tsp Red pepper flakes (optional)

Method

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to the boil.
  2. Cube the chicken; mince the garlic. Whisk the soy and honey together in a small bowl.
  3. Drop the pasta into the boiling water and cook one minute shy of al dente (firm to the bite).
  4. While the pasta cooks, heat the oil in a wide pan over medium-high. Sear the chicken, turning once or twice, until golden on all sides and cooked through, about 6 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Lower the heat, add the garlic and chili flakes, and stir for 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in the soy-honey glaze and the butter, then let it bubble and reduce, spooning it over until the chicken is glossy and coated, about 2 minutes.
  6. Reserve a mugful of pasta water, then drain.
  7. Toss the pasta in the pan with the chicken and glaze, loosening with pasta water until glossy.
  8. Plate and serve.

About Honey Garlic Chicken Pasta

Honey garlic chicken pasta is a sweet-savory skillet dish in the modern American weeknight mold, where an Asian-leaning glaze of soy, garlic, and honey meets a bowl of noodles. Cubed chicken thighs are seared until golden, then turned through a bubbling glaze that reduces into a sticky coat, with pasta tossed in to catch every bit of it. Thighs are the right choice here — they stay juicy under the high heat and their richness stands up to the sweet glaze in a way lean breast cannot. It comes together in about thirty minutes, most of it hands-on at the stove.

The flavor runs sweet and salty at once, the honey and soy caramelizing against the garlic while a pinch of red pepper flakes adds a low warmth underneath. Butter stirred into the glaze gives it gloss and body, so it clings to the noodles rather than pooling at the bottom of the pan. The chicken ends up lacquered and deeply savory, the pasta slippery with sauce — comfort food that skews high-protein thanks to a generous amount of meat. It is a satisfying, kid-friendly dinner that reads more indulgent than the short ingredient list suggests.
